Troubleshooting

12. Troubleshooting

The Mini App won't open in Telegram

Cause: A temporary Telegram hiccup, or the bot's menu button wasn't tapped.

Fix: Open @RufoofBot, tap Start if you haven't, then tap the menu/app button at the bottom of the chat. On Android, if a spinner appears while creating a bot, tap the screen and then Stop. If it still won't load, close and reopen Telegram.

My new bot's channel won't connect during registration

Cause: The bot isn't an administrator of the channel yet, or a different channel was chosen.

Fix: In the Mini App's Add a storage channel step, pick a channel where the bot can be added as admin (the Mini App does this automatically), or create a fresh channel from that step. Make sure you're choosing a channel, not a group.

⚠ "Invalid token" on the desktop setup screen

Cause: The bot token is malformed, or the bot can't be reached.

Fix: Reveal your token in the Mini App's bot settings and copy it again. Make sure there are no extra spaces. A valid token looks like 123456789:ABCdefGHIjklMNOpqrsTUVwxyz-1234567.

⚠ "Bot not found" / can't open bot content

Cause: You're trying to open a bot on the desktop that hasn't been registered yet.

Fix: Register the bot first, inside Telegram — see Create & Register a Bot. Then return to the desktop app and open it.

A file I posted in my channel isn't in the Inbox

Cause: The Receive new files switch is off, or the post was already filed.

Fix: Open the bot in the Mini App, check the Receive new files toggle is on (Inbox), then post the file again. Remember a file already uploaded through the desktop app won't reappear in the Inbox.

Files Too Large dialog appears

Cause: One or more files exceed Telegram's 50 MB per-file limit.

Fix: This is normal — Rufoof asks what to do with each large file. Choose Upload automatically, Upload manually, Skip, or Cancel. See Large Files.

Folder Button Limit warning

Cause: A folder contains 100 or more items (files + subfolders), which is more buttons than Telegram can show in one menu.

Fix: Split the oversized folder into smaller subfolders, or let Rufoof skip the problematic folder and continue with the rest.

Upload or sync fails midway with a network error

Cause: Your internet connection was interrupted, or Telegram had a temporary issue.

Fix: Wait a minute and run the save or sync again. Rufoof skips files that already uploaded and only retries the ones that failed.

"Another session is editing this bot"

Cause: You (on another device or in the Mini App) or a collaborator are editing the same bot's content. Only one editor at a time is allowed, to prevent overwriting each other.

Fix: Finish or close the other editing session, then try again shortly.

"No changes to save"

Cause: You clicked Save but didn't actually change anything.

Fix: This is just informational. Make your edits first, then Save.

My bot shows "Pending" and never gets approved

Cause: Every bot is reviewed before going live. This usually takes a few hours, occasionally longer during busy times.

Fix: Make sure you tapped Submit for approval in the Mini App (Create & Register a Bot). You'll get a Telegram notification when it's approved.

A user got rate-limited / temporarily blocked

Cause: Rufoof gently limits how fast a single user can hammer a bot. A user who far exceeds the limit is paused briefly.

Fix: This protects your bot and clears on its own — a first pause is short (an hour), and only repeated abuse escalates it. If you believe it's a mistake, contact support at telegram.me/blessed_tree.

⚠ "Invalid folder structure" during upload

Cause: A file or folder name triggered a safety filter (usually an unusual character or pattern). Rufoof checks your names before uploading, so this is caught early.

Fix: Rename the flagged item and try again, or contact support at telegram.me/blessed_tree with the folder you were uploading.

The Rufoof app is blank or won't open

Cause: Rarely, antivirus software blocks the app.

Fix: Check your antivirus quarantine and allow Rufoof, then run it again. If it persists, re-download the latest version from telegram.me/MariamInitiative or contact support.
